The Jolly Jumpers

The Stripper's Guide's entry for Jolly Jumpers gives a nice overview of Harrison Cady's Sunday comic strip.  Cady was probably best known for his work on Peter Rabbit.

But in 1913 The Jolly Jumpers were engaged in a series of great baseball games.  "...the whole feature is brimful of rollicking good nature and clean fun."

• Hopkinsville (KY) Hoppers
• Owensboro (KY) Distillers
• Paducah (KY) Chiefs
• Vincennes (IN) Alices

Don't quite know how the Alices slipped into the league, what, with them being Hoosiers and all.  Paducah was crowned as the Champions in that year.

Indoor Baseball

There has been a bit of discussion about indoor baseball on the SABR listserve as of late.  I thought I'd do a bit of research.  The following articles focus mainly on the origins of that game, with a few others highlighting leagues and the evolution of the game.  Bonus points for The Florida Star writer using the term "Jack Frostican".  These articles are from the Library of Congress's site, Chronicling America.  There are many other articles available through Google News.
